Renowned trumpeter Mary Elizabeth Bowden will share the stage with pianist Dr. Joachim Reinhuber in the final Master Performers @ TAMIU Recital Wednesday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Texas A&M International University Center for fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The Master Performers @ TAMIU series is sponsored by the Salinas Charitable Trust Fund, TAMIU Residential Life and a donation from Hector and Annabel Hall.
A native of Illinois, Bowden has emerged as a dazzling, young soloist, well known and highly regarded for her artistry and virtuosity, as well as the clarity, purity and power of her sound.
Bowden made her solo debut with Wisconsin’s Birch Creek Symphony Orchestra. Since then, she has performed as soloist with the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra, Richmond Youth Symphony Orchestra, Pennsylvania’s Lower Merion Symphony Orchestra and New Haven Chamber Orchestra, among several others.
She won first prize at the 2012 International Women’s Brass Conference Trumpet Competition.
Internationally recognized trumpeter Jens Lindeman wrote Bowden has “one of the most beautiful sounds I have ever heard from a soloist.”
Bowden will be joined on stage by pianist Joachim Reinhuber. They will explore four centuries of music including a Sonata by Handel and some arrangements of Gershwin songs by Bowden.
Prior to the recital on Wednesday, Bowden will work with area high school and college students in a master class Monday evening. Students from Nixon High School, TAMIU and LCC are taking part in this free and open event at 5:30 on Monday April 14.
