Greeted with a friendly smile and welcoming attitude, a recent tour group set off on an urban adventure, walking around the streets of Laredo during CaminArte. They were helped along a special historically significant route in downtown by four outgoing, happy volunteers as they completed an evening art walk. Officially dubbed Tourism Ambassadors, this crew of four helped CVB staff welcome, greet, chat, engage, visit, orient and generally guide participants on the art walk along the designated route, ensuring that no one got lost or turned around.
These volunteers are an extension of the Laredo Convention and Visitors Bureau staff and our function of offering assistance to our visitors. They are invaluable during events like the art walk, because they can offer a unique point of view to each of our guests. As a department, we try to invite them into a number of events where we know there’s a high probability of coming into contact with a visitor. They have helped the department in a number of places such as welcome receptions, special visitor information booths, tours, dinners and at the Airport as greeters. They specifically help us during CaminArte and that’s where you can find them every month for sure.If your plans bring you into our city and you happen to be here on the first Friday of any given month this year, then chances are you will see an Ambassador or two on the downtown streets of Laredo.
