Reverse 9-1-1 Call Goes Out to Affected Area

Laredo, TX - Julio 7, 2010. Reverse 9-1-1 Call Goes Out to Affected Area. City authorities have issued an automated phone call to those residents and homes situated immediately adjacent to low-lying areas along the Rio Grande riverbank and creeks.    The call is in both English and Spanish.  The call tells residents that at this time, authorities are suggesting that residents take precaution and evacuate the low-lying area to higher ground on a voluntary basis only.  The call asks residents to continue to monitor the media and to call 3-1-1 for more information and instructions.

Residents are asked not to panic.  There are currently no shelters open, but authorities continue to monitor the rising river and are prepared to open as many as necessary.  Authorities continue to monitor the weather for further details regarding the future rising river and future flooding.
