A Quick Guide to Shopping in Laredo

Whether you’re shopping for the holidays or looking to purchase a few things on your own wish list, Laredo is an excellent place to start. The city is home to a handful of shopping malls and unique shopping destinations that guarantee you’re going to find one-of-a-kind items you can’t find elsewhere, including imported Mexican goods and art pieces for their homes. Here’s a quick guide to some of the top places to shop in Laredo, Texas.

San Bernardo Avenue
Due to Laredo’s convenient location on the border, shopping for Mexican imports is a must-do in the city. Head down to San Bernardo Avenue where troves of shops sell authentic goods like pottery, jewelry, dresses, furniture, original art pieces and more. You can easily spend a whole day shopping on the avenue with more than 20 shops to explore. Take a break between shopping and go for a lunch or dinner on San Bernardino Avenue, where a handful of Mexican restaurants also are located. Some of the top shops on the street include Laredo Mexican Imports, Comanche Imports and Vega’s.

Mall del Norte

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that seems to be the case at Mall del Norte, one of the largest shopping malls in the state with more than 160 stores and restaurants. Unlike Independence Plaza, the mall is entirely indoors. Shoppers can expect to find high-end stores like Armani Exchange, Express, Kay Jewelers and Pandora as well as low-cost shops with bargain prices (think Payless, H&M, and Claire’s). After a long day of chalking items off your wish list, reward yourself with a much-deserved meal from restaurants like Red Lobster, Logan’s Roadhouse, and Tony Roma’s located on the premises.

Fountain Centre

Located right off I-35, Fountain Centre is another fantastic place for shopping in Laredo. There, you will find trendy and boutique shops where you can nab one-of-a-kind or limited items products. Shoppers will also come across hard-to-find stores like Ada’s Lace (specializing in handmade dresses for little girls) and Valentina Haute Couture for upscale, evening gowns. The shopping center earned its name because of its picturesque indoor fountain, an idyllic spot to take breaks and relax in-between shopping.
